Nomi Ruiz, vocalist on the first Hercules & Love Affair album, released a new single with her band Jessica 6 today. I love Nomi’s voice, which is perfect for this pop/house song with a little bit of dance melancholy on top. Almost a year ago, I wrote about the first J6 single, Fun Girl – which has a fun video.
Jessica 6’s album, See The Light, will be out this May.

Another single got the remix treatment today – though streaming only – My House by Hercules & The Love Affair. This one is by Andy Butler’s former lover, Derrick Carter. He had previously remixed one of my favourite tracks from the first H&LA album, You Belong with Nomi on lead vocals. So, we heard this pairing before, but I can’t resist Derrick Carter’s bouncy Chicago beats. He turned My House up for a bigger dance floor.

Fun Girl

And while we wait for the new Mariah video (please scroll down), why not watch Jessica 6 – Fun Girl. J6 consists of Morgan Wiley, Andrew Raposo and Nomi Ruiz, who could also be heard on the Hercules & Love Affair single, You Belong. If you’ve ever seen H&LA live, you know what a great stage presence Nomi has.

Anyways, here is a free download of the sexy dreamy disco Worldwarwater version of Fun Girl, which clocks in at just under 13 minutes. Love it.
And the Jessica 6 debut album is planned for this spring.
