Fancy Lezzies

Wendy & Lisa gave a candid interview to out.com. They’re talking about their relationship, recording with Grace Jones, their time with Prince in The Revolution and recording an album with Trevor Horn in the 90ties which did not get released, partly because of his homophobic remarks.
I love how they describe Prince as a “fancy lesbian” and getting more upset phone calls from him everytime they share some purple memories.

Did you first think Prince was gay?
Lisa: He was little and kinda prissy and everything. But he”™s so not gay.
Wendy: He”™s a girl, for sure, but he”™s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman.
Lisa: Totally. He”™s like a fancy lesbian.
Wendy: I remember being at that “œSexuality” video shoot and him on stage with that little black jacket and that tie thing around his neck and his black pants with white buttons on the side. And we looked at each other for the first time and I thought, “œOh, I could so fall in love with that girl easy.” It doesn”™t matter what sexuality, gender you are. You”™re in the room with him and he gives you that look and you”™re like, “œOkay, I”™m done. It”™s over.” He”™s Casanova. He”™s Valentino.

Wendy: We had an amazing month with [Jones] in our home writing “œWilliams”™ Blood,” becoming friends, and being bizarre divas. We had to pick her up when she woke up in the morning, and the morning to her was like 6 PM.
Lisa: She gets in the back seat of the car and of course we have to stop to buy bottles of champagne. She wanted to play the bass. She kind of couldn”™t, but she could groove like nobody”™s business on one note. She started to sing and I wish I could”™ve seen my own face. I was like —

Od’d on Gaudi

I’m basically overdosed on Gaudi.

Please send all your broken colorful tiles to my attention and I’ll prepare a turtle world out of them that will rival the Sagrada Familia but gayer. It shall be called “Gay Guell Tortuga (Gay)”. It shall take 77 years to be completed but it will not be finished ever. Think of it as an objet.

The turtle world will provide happiness to all people and will open everyday at 9 am. But the best pictures can be taken before 8 am, before the tourist busses arrive.

The merchandise shop will be open 24 h. The customers will be served free water.

BG1: Oh my god, Blair crashed Jenny’s party.

Gemein

I recently discovered an obscure record: It has a Romanthony remix. You might say, well, that is not so special. But what if I tell you that the mix is for the Berlin based Schlager-House (according to their old press clippings) band Andy und die Anitas who only released one album more than 10 years ago, titled “Zuhause etwas spannendes erleben” (experience something exciting at home)?

The trashy disco house paired with cheerful German vocals was a big hit with Toffi and me. Superschum loved it, too. The lyrics touched our adolescent souls:

One of the singles was “Ich will zu Dir gemein sein” (I wanna be mean to you). Not so long ago, while browsing discogs.com, I found the entry relating to the promo 12″ of said song, ordered it, received it, digitalized it:

The only thing that I would like to know now: How did the remix happen? Did the Anitas have a fling with Romanthony? Or Andy?

Someone For The Man

I became a Scissor Sisters fan when I heard their single Electrobix, the gay gayness anthem, which didn’t make it on the first album. Then, before their debut album was released, I discovered the demo album. It was very pop, had great synths, danceable beats. Some of the best dance tracks didn’t make it to the final release and I wondered why.

Two of my favourite demo songs are Someone To Touch and Step Aside For The Man. Did they sample the beats or was it their own programming? Only recently I found out that Step Aside For The Man samples So Many Men So Little Time by Miquel Brown (via). Can someone tell me if the Scissor Sisters used a sample for Someone To Touch?
