Is it that time of year already? That’s right, it’s Christmas! Pride is gonna be extra festive this year, we’re sending a crisco fueled jet alllllll the way to TexAss to pick up international skank superstar CHRISTEENE and DJ JJ Booya.

Celebrate with us at the Canadian re…lease party for CHRISTEENE’s first album ‘WASTE UP, KNEEZ DOWN‘ (iTunes). This self produced 13 track album chronicles CHRISTEENE’s tumultuous life throughout the past 3 years, delving deep into the back rooms, bright lights, and burnt offerings of this talented nightmare.

The Art Gallery of York University (AGYU) Dreams BIG at Pride Toronto this year! AGYU and artist Matthew-Robin Nye team up with the Trans, Bi, Lesbian, Gay Alliance at York (TBLGAY), York Federation of Students (YFS), and the SexGen York Committee for the We Demand Redux with a booth at the Pride Street Fair on Saturday July 2nd to Sunday July 3rd and a specially designed float in the 31st annual Pride Parade on Sunday 3rd July 2011, starting at 2pm at Bloor and Church Street.

This year marks the 40-year anniversary of the ‘We Demand’ March in Canada. The march was comprised of about 150 men and women on a rainy day on Parliament Hill in Ottawa with placards stating ‘We Demand!’ with a list of ten required amendments to the Canadian constitution on items related to sexuality.

We Demand Redux is a series of actions, which bring attention to issues facing the Queer community today. Functioning as an education campaign, We Demand Redux honours the history of the Gay Rights and affiliated movements over its 40-year history in Canada. This open-ended campaign is an homage to the leaders of this community both present and past who have shaped one of the most progressive democracies in world history. We Demand Redux empowers the audience to create their own demands, give voice to their frustrations, and issues of interest during the Pride Parade.

The We Demand Redux demands your attention and participation! With a custom designed float and message campaign – visible through tshirts, placards, ballots, and the York University booth – the We Demand Redux looks at the past and forward to the future of Queer activism in Canada. Backing up the redux, DJ Produzentin and Mary Messhausen perform live, bouncing the truck with a heavy, house-pop remix.

The We Demand Redux strives to provide a galvanized platform for all to draw attention to the history of LGBT activism in Canada, contemporary issues faced by members of the broad queer community, the de-politicized nature of the Pride Parade, and to reinvigorate an exciting history.

Pridetoberfest

OMG so OOC. That was so much fun. Thank you for making Pridetoberfest all about Hosen- and Dirndl-SPASS. Only abroad can this German girl handle so much gay Germanness.

Tante Karen started the evening by djing her favourite deutsche Sänger: Heino. What a treat that was for all of us! And the highlights just kept on rolling out of the barrel: Polka Queen Maija worked the accordion with a traditional Scorpions song, we had a Chug-A-Lug and a corndog eating contest. And not to forget, a super lustige sausage strut around the Beaver Stube.

Pridetoberfest is what we want every month. Can’t wait for next year.

Finally, here are the Drag Holes pictures. It was tons of fun. Our bells were ringing all day as we were happy to be part of the Pride Toronto festivities. Thanks Daryl.

Mary and myself were expecting much more sausage action, maybe it was too light outside, maybe we did not have enough poppers. Anyways, we have not seen so many hands in one day. Ever.

Here is Mary and my bio, we cut it down to the facts for Pride:
Mary Messhausen and produzentin were found wandering hand-in-hand through the woods by a travelling circus troupe at the age of 4. Raised by the Bearded Lady, these girls learned their tricks by hustling and bustling from the outskirts of St. John’s to the inner harbour of Victoria.
Mary and produzentin, 19 and 20 respectively, currently reside in Toronto, Ontario.

Project Title: Drag Holes

Mary and myself have been asked to come up with a project for Pride Toronto. It looks like we’re going to provide nasty entertainment in the afternoon of Saturday, June 27. Today, we’ve sent in our biography:
