3

The produzentin website turns 3 today.
It seems like it has been going on much longer. What did I do before its launch? Well, this may be the story of my prequel blog coming to the interweb in the very distant future.

Anyway, I thought that my Diet Pepsi Jazz Jingle didn’t get enough attention. I guess only Pandy listenend to it. So without further ado, here it is again. And this time, do a remix or even better, leave a comment because produzentin depends on comments like Mariah on Butterflies.

I am so the spokeswoman for Jazz

All That Jazz

All That Jazz: Strawberry and Cream

You know I’m a sucker for new soft drinks. So I was extremely excited when I heard about Diet Pepsi Jazz or is it Jazz Pepsi Diet or Jazz by Pepsi Diet. I am especially feeling the Strawberry and Cream flavour. Very yummy. My taste buds are blooming.

Now, I decided to become the spokeswoman for Jazz.
My first statement shall be my Jazz Jingle.
Download. Listen. Jazz it up. Remix.

Yes, you can do your own remix of my Jazz Jingle.
Add some sax or horn. Jazz it up, feel the flavour.

Summer Slump

Sommerloch, that’s it.

To cool me down my bf bought me an iced cappucino. As I came home quite late last night, he put the crushed iced coffee in the freezer.
This morning I needed the chillatte so badly, the heatwave had struck me tired. So I get the coffee out of the freezer and it is just too cold, freezing cold. Ice. It froze to ice. I couldn’t suck it with a straw. It was stuck in the cup. Such a big mess. Ein Riesenschlamassel.
I wanted to go back to bed and sleep the whole day. My iced latte was ice. I couldn’t drink it. Hell had frozen over.

Toffi came to help me. He stabbed the coffee ice with the straw. Slowly but surely, the ice turned into puree again. Just how it’s supposed to be. Ready to be slurped. And that’s what I did. Slurped it all up.

I’m a whole new person now.

slurp me.

Road Trip: Tim Hortons

Nancy is in Toronto visiting. Yesterday, we did a wonderful road trip. This is a mini extreme theme week: Nancy and Produzentin: The Road Trip.

Anyway, we had our first stop at a Tim Hortons near the highway (I mean, where else?). We love Tim Hortons and they loved us.

More on our road trip in the next couple of days.
Maybe we will hit your neighborhood soon.
Get ready.

produzentin cuisine: Königsberger Klopse

Here comes another post in the never ending food week and today I have a special treat for you. It is the recipe to one of my favourite dishes. In German it is called Königsberger Klopse, in English it translates to the rather dull German Meatballs with Caper Sauce.

The ingredients (in English and German) to this hearty meal can be found after the pics. Some of the quantities are a rough guess, especially for the oatmeal. Just use as much so the meat is not too sticky. You will feel it, for sure. The capers are essential, use more if you like those.

I like to eat them balls with rice, although potatos might work, too.

Enjoy your meal!
Guten Appetit!

No balls yet
Put all the ball ingredients (1-8) into a bowl, the onions should be glassy steamed

Sticky stuff
Mix thoroughly by hand

Here we go
Form the balls, in German I call it drällern

9 balls
I get around 9 balls from this receipe. Boil them in c) vegetable or beef stock for 10 to 15 min.

Stir well
Prepare the roux (Mehlschwitze) using a+b) and blend in the c) vegetable or beef stock, which you used to boil the balls. Add d-f).

Almost done
Add the balls to the sauce and let them simmer for 10 min.

Voila!
Dinner is ready!

Balls
1) 1/2 pound ground pork
2) 1/2 pound ground veal
3) 3/4 cup oatmeal (I like to use oatmeal instead of breadcrumbs)
4) 1 small onion (steam onion until glassy)
5) 1 egg
6) Salt & freshly ground black pepper
7) Ground nutmeg
8) Paprika

1-2) 500g Hackfleisch halb und halb (Rind und Schwein)
3) 6 Esslöffel Haferflocken (I benutze lieber Haferflocken als Paniermehl)
4) 1 kleine Zwiebel (glasig gedünsted)
5) 1 Ei
6) Salz und frisch gemahlenen Peffer
7) Gemahlene Muskatnuss
8) Paprika

Sauce
a) 4 tablespoons melted butter
b) Flour
c) 3 cups vegetable stock or beef stock
d) 1/4 cup dry white wine
e) 1 tablespoon lemon juice
f) 4 tablespoons capers

a) 4 Teelöffel Butter
b) Mehl
c) 3/4 Liter Gemüse- oder Kalbfleischbrühe
d) 1/8 Liter trockener Weisswein
e) 1 Teelöffel Zitronensaft
f) 4 Teelöffel Kapern

Summer Charts

I have to take a short break from the What produzentin eats theme week as I go on a holiday for a couple of days. I probably will have some very relaxing pictures later this week.

But first, here are my summer charts and another Larry Levan remix for your mp3 collection. I downloaded a mix of Winners by Manfriday in June. After a few listens I really wanted to have the vinyl of the song, so I orderd a copy on ebay. It turns out, the version on the official release is totally different, sounding more like a cheap 80ties dance track. Soon I found out, that this Larry Levan demo mix is only available on a bootleg 12 inch and on a japanese compilation CD. I still have to track down either of them. Anyway, enjoy.

What’s the good side of you

Oh, the World Cup has arrived at my crib. Superschum and H. are staying over for a few nights and they brought this adorable Nutella ball. I love it so much, guess my diet has to wait. Schum and H. made me watch my first World Cup game from start to finish, Germany vs. Argentina. I’m in love with Odo now (this was easy, right?). Make sure to read his A-Z.

sweet things

  1. Fox N’ Wolf – Claws Against Knives (Todd Terje Remix) – Kitsune
This is my summer hit. Squeaky vocals and bubbling beats. I wanted to post the song but I am afraid the lovely guys from Kitsune might sue my little ass. It’s on the Kitsune Maison 2 compilation. Here samples of the song here and here. Wow.
  2. Jamie Lidell – When I Come Back Around (Freeform Reform) – Warp
This is from his Multiply Additions remix album. After all the Jamie – Prince comparisons he finally gets a Prince beat in the mix: Raspberry Beret provides a perfect backdrop for the song.
  3. Man Friday – Winners (Larry Levan Demo Mix)
  4. Kirk Franklin – Looking For You – Gospocentric
I heard it first on the radio but didn’t know who it was. I wanted to have this song so badly as it re-sings the hook from Patrice Rushen’s disco classic Haven’t You Heard. Then I found it at fourfour.
  5. Jimpster feat. Diamondancer – A Love Like This – Freerange
This sounds like part 2 of Delano Smith feat. Diamondancer – A Message For The DJ (Jimpsters Red Light Remix). Diamondancer sings/reads her lyrics above the forward grooving Jimpster beats. Listen.
  6. Peaches – Downtown – XL Recordings
I haven’t figuered out which Prince beat she is sampling. Sounds a bit like Vanity 6 or Apollonia 6.
  7. Lisa Shaw – Let It Ride (Speakeasy Remix) – Naked Music
  8. Snax And Ianeq – Fill Me Up (M.A.N.D.Y. Edit) – Get Physical
  9. Christian Rottler – Feuer – Freundinnen
The song finally sees the light of day, I had the promo version for a while now and I still like the original singer-songwriter version best. The remixes are more in the electro vein. Listen to more Christian Rottler songs on his homepage.
  10. Only Freak feat. Rasiyah – Can’t Get Away (From Your Love) (Solid Groove Remix) – Freerange

produzentin cuisine: La Rambut

produzentin is very much in love with fruits. They help me dropping a few pounds here and there. Fruits are my diet especially if they are tasty and have furry names, like the Rambutan, whose name derived from the Malayan word rambut which means hairs.

This morning I went to Chinatown and got this bundle of Rambutans. For a couple of days I like to use them as decorative accessories with my paper fruits, which I bought recently. And then, day by day, pick a few from the bundle. Tasty!

produzentin cuisine: Rappers and Poppers

Fill Me Up!

I am so happy that food week has won the poll, because I love my little treats. For that very special occasion, I got this juicy produzentin logo. Get ready for the sausage fest.

All you haters step back: produzentin eats Rappers and Poppers for breakfast. They taste so good. Hot jalapenos and melted cheese in a ball or stick… What more can you ask for early in the morning?

Mode Depesche #4 – In die Fashionwüste?

The latest issue of Cologne based fashion fanzine Mode Depesche was published in May (their website has an older issue for your viewing pleasure). I’ve written a column about my shopping adventures in Canada. Read the article after the jump.
