My dear friend Mary Messhausen recently gave me the new Comme des Garçons perfume as a gift. Ever since I had that irresistible stank on me.
The scent is described as “an industrialized flower to go with glue, an imaginary flower from an unknown civilization”. I’d say the first idea that came to my mind is bug repellant with a hint of tape. Of course its turns around after a few minutes and becomes lilac and glue. Such a hot pheromone.
It’s old school CdG in a recycled, partially hand blown bottle. That won’t stand up.
I’ve been trying for weeks now. Watch the clip above.
The Rei Kawakubo chapter is one of the best in John Waters’ book Role Models (published in May). These few black and white pages have caused considerable damage over hurrr. I mean, not that I didn’t crave Comme des Garçons before, but now, the flood gates of hell (aka my purse) are wide open. I simply can not resist a CdG item any more (just spare me the CdG Play line).
Ok, here is one of the crucial paragraphs. And what I believe is also very important: You can never start too early. Gobble up some torn & combusted CdG BEFORE you hit the big 4-ohhh:
You don’t need fashion designers when you are young (…). But past the age of 40, you need all the help you can get. Now is the time for designers, and believe me, Rei Kawakubo has made it possible for older people to be as fashion daring as the young. “Too rich, too nuts?” Yesiree, these are Rei’s customers, and we are proud to be her cult members on “Planet Rei”. Rei Kawakubo was “the first to make polyester cost more than silk,” the model Linda Evangelista told me when I met her at a film festival in France. Rei is not a fashion designer; she is a magician.
The chapter about his friendship with Leslie van Houten is available at HuffPost.
Here are some of my favourite looks from Paris fashion week.

Layers of clothes were taken off (and later put on) model Kristen McMenamy on a revolving stage. Watch the video, to get the full show.
Liked the messyness of the whole collection.
There are lots of fun looks, here is just one.
The milliner Stephen Jones has launched his first fragrance at Dover Street Market in London. The collaboration with Comme des Garcons will soon be available at CdG boutiques worldwide. The perfume is described as a “meteorite crashing into a violet” or “futuristic but rococo”. It includes notes of violet, violet leaf, ‘synthesized cyber aldehyde’, clove, carnation, rose, jasmine, heliotrope, gaiac wood, magma, black cumin, vetiver and amber.
Sounds like a perfect CdG fragrance to me. Of course, I want it. Thanks.
(Hail Mary!)

Pictures of the Comme des Garcons for H&M collection have leaked on the interwebs.
Very CdG with a touch of office clown. Want it.
More looks.
Maison Martin Margiela has announced a partnership with L’Oreal to create the first MMM perfume. I read somewhere that the scent is due in 2009.
This is going to be very interesting. Can’t wait to smell what they come up with. And it ain’t easy as a couple of super perfumes are taken by Comme des Garçons, especially their series 6 with perfumes like Dry Clean, Garage, Tar or Soda or Odeur 53.
Out of all places Women’s Wear Daily suggests it could end up being a perfume without scent or an empty bottle. Both would be absolutely amazing, me thinks.
Had gay brunch yesterday and all of us went on a crafts project after. I choose dip dyeing. The fashion bloggers Style Bubble and Flying Saucer showed me how to do your own Lacroix.
Wait till you see the dress
A lot of times when going out in Toronto, especially when wearing Bernhard Willhelm or Comme des Garçons, I get the insulting question: “Did you make that yourself?”
Guess I have to face the demons now.
Mary Messhausen called and sent me this blurb a sec later:
H&M’s designer collaboration this autumn will be with a name it said has been “top of [its] wish list for a long time”. Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons will create womenswear, menswear, childrenswear, plus accessories and an exclusive unisex fragrance in the latest of a series of successful designer partnerships that have included Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Viktor & Rolf and Roberto Cavalli.
We’re basically getting in line right now. Mary wants to buy all of the children’s clothes and make an outfit for herself. Can’t wait. I hope it’s all shredded, sleeves and holes only.

Basically, I have to go to sleep for two months. Everything I want is available in spring, mostly February only:
