Kanye West – Late Registration

Ist bei mir natürlich auf heavy rotation, weil ich schon von seiner Stimme Verliebheitsgefühle bekomme. Mein Favoriten sind: Heard ‘Em Say, Touch The Sky, My Way Home, Crack Music, Roses, Addiction, Gone und auch Hey Mama.

Insgesamt noch poppiger als The College Dropout. Metacritic fasst die Reviews zusammen und das Album räumt ab.

Kate

Nachdem Kate Bush in einer Weihnachtskarte (Eintrag vom 09.12.04) an ihren Fanclub geschrieben hatte, dass ihr neues Album definitiv 2005 erscheint, gibt es jetzt Gerüchte, dass das Album an Ihre Plattenfirma EMI übergeben wurde. Hoffentlich wird das Album wirklich im Herbst veröffentlicht, 12 Jahre nach The Red Shoes. Wie lange können Fans eigentlich warten?

Linda Lovelace

Nicht mehr brandheiss, aber Courtney Love hat eine neue Filmrolle an Land gezogen! Sie spielt die Hauptrolle in der geplanten Verfilmung des Lebens von Linda Lovelace, die durch den Pornofilm Deep Throat 1972 zum Star wurde. Kommt aber erst 2006 in die Kinos oder zu HBO.
Ich mochte Courtney schon sehr in The People vs. Larry Flynt (ähnliches Milieu) und fand sie toll in dem Lesben-Drama Julie Johnson.
Angeblich nimmt sie zur Zeit ein Album auf, bei dem sie u.a. mit Billy Corgan (grusel!) zusammenarbeitet. Auf dem Bild links legt sie eine kleinen Strip für David Letterman hin. Süß!

What A Shame!

Über A Dirty Shame hatte ich schon mehrfach geschrieben. Leider sieht es so aus, als ob der John Waters Film in Deutschland nicht in die Kinos kommt. In der Schweiz ist er zur Zeit zu sehen.
Es naht Abhilfe: die DVD wird am 22.07. erscheinen, in den USA ist sie bereits veröffentlicht. Am gleichen Abend gibt es bei mir eine Release Party!

Stevie Wonder – A Time To Love – Schon mehrfach verschoben, und obwohl 2 Singles erschienen sind, gibt es für das Album momentan keinen Termin. Warten, warten, warten…

My Boy Kanye

Kanye West – Late Registration – 16. August. Wieder mit dem süssen Bärchen auf dem Cover. Die erste Single Diamonds From Sierra Leone (mit prominentem Diamonds Are Forever Sample von Shirley Bassey) und das dazugehörige Video (von Hype Williams) finde ich so mittel. Bin auf das Album gespannt, hoffentlich wird es so phänomenal wie The College Dropout. Auf jeden Fall ist er der heisseste Rapper! Sein drittes Album soll Graduation heißen.
Kanye ist morgen, Mittwoch, um 16 Uhr live bei MTV TRL um das neue Video vorzustellen. Heiß!!

Missy’s neue CD Cookbook kommt am 04. Juli. Ein Song ist featuring Mary J. Blige (THE Queen of Hip Hop Soul) und einer feat. M.I.A. Vielleicht sind das die Hits!

Get Crunk With Paris

Jetzt bleibt für mich nur noch die Frage: Wann kommt endlich das Debutalbum von Paris Hilton raus? Angeblich hat Lil’ Jon (Usher – Yeah) mitgearbeitet. Very crunk!

Har Mar Superstar – The Handler – Mid September

He is da man and I’m waiting for him to cross over to Germany. Why doesn’t he get a tour organized in mainland Europe? The UK gets the treat all the time and during my stay in San Francisco he didn’t hit the town either.
Anyway, I’m in love with his first two albums and his videos. He has style, a fantastic voice and the perfect beats. Check out Power Lunch and my favorite non-album track Shopping Spree!
The Handler, featuring Karen O. of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Michael Bland (former Prince drummer) among others, will probably get an early release on iTunes. The first single, about drug related telephone calls, DUI (Dialing Under the Influence), is scheduled for August 16th. The B-side is Sex-Tape. Listen

Le Tigre – This Island – October 19th

After a three year break they return with This Island. I’m really looking forward to this & their new videos. I especially liked their Well Well Well video, which will probably be included on one of the enhanced reissues of their older albums on August 24th.

Beck – As yet untitled – October

He is currently in the studio with the Dust Brothers, who produced the fabulous Odelay and Midnite Vultures with him. I’m so glad this is going to be an up tempo album and not a melancholy affair like the last one. One track is a collaboration with Jack White.

Mariah Carey – As yet untitled

You might have guessed it: This is the album I’m looking forward to most. There is no release date or title but her manager says that Mariah’s “new album is underway in New York. For the first time in years, she is not recording on the Isle of Capri.”. I’m not sure if this is a good or bad sign. I always wanted to go to Capri but now I don’t have a reason anymore.
Good news is, she will have Kanye West as a producer for one or more songs.

Kate Bush – As yet untitled

It’s been more than 11 years since her last album The Red Shoes and each year I get my hopes up. Supposedly, she is working on the new album in her home studio and a lot of musicians reported about the progress for years. I think, she is only doing her little fairy dance at the huge mansion. It would be a wonder if this album gets released in 2004.

Von dem fabelhaften 1972er “Blue” Album. Joni ist die Beste. Fängt an wie ein verstimmtes Weihnachtslied. Joni wünscht sich einen “River” auf dem sie davon skaten kann.

Prince – Another Lonely Christmas

War nur eine B-Seite zu Purple Rain Zeiten. Die beste Version, weil Extended, auf irgendsoeiner Maxi. Seine Freundin ist am 25. Dezember gestorben und es ist ein trauriges Erinnerungslied, classic Prince Style:

Mariah Carey – All I Want For Christmas Is You

Diesen Song gibt es auf ihrem Weihnachtsalbum und auf einer Maxi als So So Def Version von Jermaine Dupri auf Street geremixt. Mariah kümmert sich angeblich nicht um die Geschenke oder Santa, sie will nur ihren Freund. Uptempo & Happy. Sie wünscht sich noch nicht mal Schnee. Sehr bescheiden.

Rupaul with Michelle Visage – With Bells On

Das ist eine Coverversion von Kenny Rogers und Dolly Parton, welche auch nicht zu verachten ist. Die Rupaul Version hat mehr Power und spricht mich mehr an.

Arriving ‘with bells on’ — meaning happy and delighted to attend — goes back to the days before automobile, when it was the custom to deck out with the fanciest harness the horse that drew the carriage for special occasions. Rupauls’ Weihnachts CD “Ho Ho Ho” von 1997 gibt es leider nur noch Second Hand. Auf dem Album sind weitere Perlen zu finden, wie z.B. “All I Want For Christmas”, im Gegensatz zu Mariah ist Rupaul nicht so bescheiden und wünscht sich diverse Schönheitsoperationen und Fettabsaugungen. Und da wäre noch “I Saw Daddy Kissing Santa Claus”.
