Thunder only happens when it’s Hotnuts

Crystal Visions took the Hotnuts stage by storm. She performed Dreams, Landslide and Gold Dust Woman for the full Stevie Nicks realness. The Beaver was filled with lace and tambourines. Update: Watch the complete performance

Mary Messhausen created the stunning dresses for huurself and me. I’m not sure if there ever was a Hotnuts when we both wore black?! But you can’t go wrong when you have hot lace fringes and gold polka dots.

Anyways, it was a great night, thank you all for making it happen. xo.

More pics after the jump. Much more on flickr.

Thunder Only Happens…

… when it’s Hotnuts.

Yes, we’re having a Stevie Nicks themed nuts. I might play this Deep Dish remix of Dreams all night. And who doesn’t want to be like Stevie in the Scarlett video version of Stand Back. This clip didn’t get released back then, because Ms Nicks thought she looked to fat in it. Climbing up the stairs never looked so good.

With The Hennies

On Saturday, El Bear Ho, Mary Messhausen and myself took part in a photo shoot for Canadian Vogue. We had our first splash at 4pm, to get in the mood for all the flashes. It was so much fun! We fell in love with the photographer Miguel and especially the very cute assistant, Housten (not sure if he told us his real name, though).

Anyways, after the shoot, we were in such a good mood that we headed to one of our favourite bars, The Henhouse. We arrived there at 8pm, the first patrons of the night. Getting the party started so early made us scream “Last Call” ever half an hour.

There are tons of pictures from the debaucherous night on facebook (not sure if you will be able to see them all). Here are just a few. I’m still hungover.

Me Like DIS

DIS magazine launched today. It’s onläne. It’s fashion. It’s art. It’s DIS.

Basically, I spent my whole day discovering their pages (pun intended). They first feature that caught my attention, was Multitasking. So many arms, so much to do. Check out the pictures and multiply your arms. Then, I found the CGI fashion story by Ryan Trecartin.

I got more and more disoriented, lost in the DIS pages.

Finally, I clicked on A Sunday With Susan. OMG, I screamed in excitement and wet myself (downstairs). The fashion shoot features Rumi Missabu (of The Cockettes) and Donna Personna (amongst others) in Susan Cianciolo dresses. Eons ago, I’ve written a quick blurb about Susan. Here are just 3 pictures from DIS magazine, be sure to check the whole story including a Q&A at the end:

I had never heard of Donna Personna before. But after watching her youtube promo reel, Join The Donna Party, I’m a fan forever. She also performs at one of my favourite bars EVER, Aunt Charlies Lounge in San Francisco. Here are some mini pics I took at ACL in June 2004: one and two. I have to go back soon. Like NOEWWW.

Also, Ryan Trecartin will be in Toronto next week for an artist talk on Tuesday and an opening at The Powerplant on Thursday.

Finally: Bernhard Streams

Welcome to the interwebz, Bernhard Willhelm. After years without having a designated website, Bernhard Willhelm is finally on it. His site is quite bare bones, however this morning, there was a live stream of BW Womens Fall/Winter 2010/11 fashion show.

Watch the recorded stream below. YAY!
