Last week, a scene from Hairspray, the musical remake was shot right around the corner from where I live.
Auto Sonic became Motor Mouth Records. In the background to the right is my local LCBO (or liquor store in other words). As you can see in the first shot, the film team built a 50ties store front to cover the entrance and signs.
I guess this scene is supposed to happen in the ghetto of Baltimore. Penny and Tracy arrive in the school bus. The actors were dancing on the bus and on the streets and finally ran across the street into Maybelle’s Motor Mouth Record store.
I’m so glad I didn’t see John Travolta as Divine as Edna Turnblad.
He would have scared the shit out of me.
